The penalty for driving without insurance ranges from $2000 to $25,000 plus you have to pay for damages and injuries yourself.

Drunk driving is a serious criminal offence.

Driving in a way that endangers people is a serious criminal offence.

Driving with a suspended license is a Federal Criminal Offence and an offence under Provincial Highway Traffic Act.
Speeding:
- It is difficult to dispute a speeding ticket when an officer had a radar to prove that you were in fact overspeeding.
Failing to Stop at a Stop Sign or a Red Light:
- The officer has to prove that the light was red the moment you entered the intersection.
- The officer must be sure without a reasonable doubt that you entered the intersection when the light was red.
- If the stop sign was not visible, you could use that as a defense.
Failure to Report and Remain at the Scene of an Accident
- When you are involved in a motor vehicle accident, you have to remain or immediately return to the scene of the accident. Failing to do so, is considered a criminal offence.
- You have to stay at the scene if there is someone injured.
- You have to stay at the scene if the property damage involved is more than the dollar amount that is set by your province.
